I am unfortunately in a period, where my mental health and overall energy is under quite a bit of duress. Thinking it is after december and christmas which is always hard on my mental health.
But being able to turn all the negative energy inside into this (still unfinished) sculpture really lightens my mind and helps me get through the tougher times.
Day one progress
The idea came to me on a walk the other day. My cousins kids are getting confirmed this year, and they both have very specific hobbies. So I want to make them a sculpture each showcasing their hobby.

This beauty emerged in day one but it took 3 more days to get all the details done. The color is beetroot juice mixed with oil and the legs and antlers are tentpoles😂 I really think the different mediums compliment eachother, and I am absolutely in love with the color. Also a bit of burning for color and contrast and the butterfly is standing on a puzzlepiece to symbolize it being a piece in the puzzle that is now my brain.
My in-laws had a tree, that had been felled a while ago. They left the trunk in the ground, which I coulden't help but take advantage of🪚
They kept the eagle (since it was in the ground, and the bear is our new welcome-sign at home😍
They already have a place in the livingroom🥰🌲
I ended up using no less than 3 different electric tools, a lot of sandpaper and a splash of oil.
The chainsaw needed a platform for the things I'm working on to stand on so I had to make that (from scrapwood). The octopus is still in progress, but coming along nicely🐙
Oh yeah. And new toys 😎
I recently acquired a new place to do my wood and stone work. This refurbished beauty is now my primary place of work when it comes to the dirtier work.
My first real art piece. It has been going for quite some time and is not yet done. The process has so far given me an injured wrist, quite a few cuts and scrapes and a lot of flow-time😍
Made from apple-wood

Made from a scrap of oak I had lying around
One of the first things I made in wood
A mountain scape I had in my head🥰
