The team at SameYou have been so kind to write a piece on me and my journey from brain injury into BrainCrafts. In connection to this article they have asked me to make a pattern with a "SameYou" logo, so anyone interested can try out crochet and make their own.
The pattern is for a tea towel featuring the SameYou logo. I have made the pattern so it can be altered according to the size of the tea towel. This way you can make a huge towel or a smaller one - whatever you prefer🤩
What you need
8/8 cotton yarn - two colors (background and a white shade for the text)
A different yarn can be used. Just make sure the yarn and hooksize match
4 mm crochet hook
Pattern for the "SameYou" text in stitchfiddle (https://www.stitchfiddle.com/c/sha7nw-6o57qe)
Scissors
Wool-needle for weaving in ends
Note to all rows! You will be working in the back loop only throughout the entire pattern. The only exception is the first and last stitch of every row, which is to be made through both loops.
EDC is short for elongated double crochet. The stitch is described in the video-tutorial.

I am not a big fan of weaving in ends, so I try to take care of ends as much as I can along the way. I do it by crocheting over any ends that show up. This happens when I change color (start and end of a new color) and when I attach a new skein of yarn.
Goal-size of the tea-towel is 35 cm wide and 55 cm long. But you can make it any size you want as long as it is atleast 40 stitches wide.
Make a foundation chain (or chord) of approx. 35 cm in background color. Mine was 68 stitches long, but it may vary depending on yarn. The important part is that it needs to be at least 40 stitches. (Tutorial for both chain and chord in video-tutorial)
Row 1-5: edc blo in every stitch of the row (first and last edc through both loops) ch 1 to turn work
Row 6-28: Follow the "SameYou" pattern with colorchanging still working in the back loop only and crocheting over the yarn not in use. (See tutorial for how to change color)
Row 28-90 (the amount of rows may vary according to your preferences): edc blo in every stitch of the row (first and last edc through both loops) ch 1 to turn work
Final 2 rows: In the middle of the row make a string to hang the tea-towel on. I chained 12 and skipped 8 stitches and then finished the row. The last row I made 12 edc over the chain and finished the row as normal.
Finish with a knot (cut the yarn leaving approx. 20 cm. Then chain 2 and pull the end through) and weave (sew) in the ends.
Overview on what to do with the pattern
Not as much information about how to crochet.
Thorough walk-through on how to do the different steps in the pattern and how to crochet them. Also how to start and end your crochet piece.
This tutorial is a deucey. It enden up being 1 hour and 21 min long. And I know that sounds like a lot! But it is what I wish I had as a complete beginner, so if you are new to crochet I think it will be helpful. Below I have written highlights from the video, so you can jump to any point you want/need in the pattern. I hope you find it helpful. Happy crocheting

I love to make my own "SameYou" merchandise. NOT for sale, but to wear and to spread the word of their work.
My latest creation is this tote-bag made from tiny squares, re-purposed yarn, a re-purposed t-shirt and quite a bit of time🥰
